Every Child deserves to play, Read, and grow.

18 August Ave is a Brooklyn-based children’s bookstore and literary community centered on stories, literacy, and wellbeing. We curate children’s books and experiences that support families in building inclusive home libraries and meaningful reading routines.

Through book subscriptions, family programs, and pop-up gatherings across NYC, we create accessible spaces where stories become tools for connection, care, and growth. Our work bridges books and support nurturing literacy alongside mental and emotional wellbeing for families at every stage.

It all began with an idea rooted in love.

18 August Ave exists in honor of our beloved angel boys, Aiden and Carter. Though they are not with us physically, their presence continues to shape the care, intention, and purpose behind everything we build. The wellbeing and growth of children mean the world to my partner and me, and this work is one way we carry that love forward.

Thank you for being here. We hope you find something that stays with you.

Love

Kenya, Alan, Aiden & Carter
