Every Child deserves to play, Read, and grow.

18 August Ave is a Brooklyn-based, black-owned children’s bookshop that empowers the lived experiences and well-being of BIPOC families through books, resources, and events.

At 18 August Ave, we offer more than just books. We bridge the gap between retail and resources so the whole family can have the necessities. We do this by providing resources on mental health, postpartum, and through parent and child enrichment events. BIPOC families have a space where they can shop diverse books clothing and more freely but also talk and learn about things that impact them and the little ones. 18 August Ave provides inclusivity, creativity, and social support for the ‘whole” family.

It all began with an idea. This idea lives on because of our beloved angel boys, Aiden and Carter. Although Aiden and Carter are not with us physically, the well-being and growth of children mean the world to my partner and me.

Thanks for stopping by.

Love

Kenya, Alan, Aiden & Carter
